The new federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) is focusing on advertising, marketing, and lead generation for consumer financial products and services. The CFPB’s scope includes education/student loans, mortgage servicing, small dollar lending, consumer reporting, consumer credit and related services, money transmission and check cashing, prepaid cards, debt relief services, and banks. On top of this, the CFPB is coordinating with the Federal Trade Commission, state Attorneys General, and other government agencies. This session will discuss the effect of the CFPB’s regulatory and enforcement power on advertisers and marketers, help you understand the CFPB’s expectations for you and your customers, and share experiences from the front lines.
