The American Lawyer named Venable partner Jan Handzlik Litigator of the Week on December 2, 2011 after a Los Angeles federal district court judge “vacated the indictment and dismissed with prejudice the convictions of Lindsey Manufacturing, CEO Keith Lindsey, and CFO Steve Lee on prosecutorial misconduct grounds.”

Noting that prior to this case he had never filed a motion based on prosecutorial misconduct, Handzlik said, “The number of things that happened in this one prosecution--starting with the search warrant and right through the closing argument, and even weeks after the verdict--was breathtaking…I've never experienced anything like this.”

Handzlik told The American Lawyer that he was “gratified that Judge Matz had the ‘intellectual honesty and courage’ to rule as he did.”
