Anne-Thérèse Béchamps helps developers and lenders build successful real estate projects.
Ms. Béchamps negotiates and documents the acquisition, financing and disposition of all types of commercial real estate, with a particular focus on mixed-use and hotel developments. She advises clients on mezzanine loans, asset-based financing and credit enhancement. When necessary, she also guides her clients through the foreclosure, receivership and workout processes.
Ms. Béchamps has led numerous complex multilender and multiproperty transactions, as well as many single-asset deals, through to completion. Clients throughout the Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas benefit from her admission to both the Maryland and Virginia bars.

Ms. Béchamps represents real estate developers and owners, as well as banks and other institutional lenders. She also advises other Venable clients in the real estate aspects of their businesses.
In recent engagements, Ms. Béchamps has assisted with:
- $1.7 billion sale of a 100-property hotel portfolio
- sale of 16-property hotel portfolio
- a $1 billion secured term and revolving-credit facility
- $140 million syndicated construction financing for a mixed-use project in Baltimore's Harbor East
- $135 million construction financing for a time-share and condominium project
- borrowing base credit facilities for residential developers
Activities
Ms. Béchamps recently served on the subcommittee that authored the lien perfection section of the 2007 Report on Lawyers' Opinions in Business Transactions by the Special Joint Committee of the Section of Business Law and the Section of Real Property, Planning and Zoning of the Maryland State Bar Association.
She serves on Venable's Opinion Committee and Ethics Committee.
