Brian Hammock maintains an active practice, focusing on commercial litigation and Maryland administrative matters. He has advised clients from diverse industries including health care, construction, telecommunications, and finance.

Mr. Hammock has extensive experience finding solutions for individuals and companies working with the executive and legislative branches of State government. Prior to joining Venable, Mr. Hammock served as a member of Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley's senior staff. As the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Mr. Hammock served as the Governor's liaison to the Maryland Departments of Planning and Agriculture, assisted in negotiating labor contracts, and worked on matters ranging from energy and environmental policy to state board and commission appointments.
