C. Stephen Heard, Jr.

Stephen Heard focuses his practice on international law, international arbitration, litigation, white collar criminal defense, criminal investigation, including FCPA matters, and corporate transactions.

Mr. Heard has enjoyed 47 distinguished years practicing international law and corporate and commercial litigation. His prolific career includes a stint as the Assistant Administrator and General Counsel for The New York City Economic Development Administration from 1968-1970. He was also a member of the United States Iranian Claimants' Steering Committee from 1982-1985 and successfully tried a number of cases against Iran and certain of its governmental agencies in the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague.  He is currently involved in several international investigations in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Activities

Mr. Heard was a member of the Board of Directors of the Fresh Air Fund, the country’s largest child welfare charity, from 1980 to 2000. Mr. Heard was President of the Fund's Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee from 1987 to 2000. Mr. Heard is also a Broadcast announcer for the Charleston Miracle League, a baseball league for handicapped children. He is currently a member of the College of Charleston’s Library Speakers Committee.
