Christina Gaarder is a litigation partner with experience in defending pharmaceutical, automotive and other general products liability litigation. In addition, she regularly handles commercial litigation matters. She has trial experience in both state and federal courts, and appellate experience in the Maryland Courts of Special Appeals, the Maryland Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Ms. Gaarder has considerable experience in representing clients in both the pre-trial stages of litigation as well as in trial. She has tried both jury and non-jury cases in state and federal court. She has had success in obtaining summary judgment in various cases, thus minimizing the cost of litigation. She has also been successful in briefing and arguing motions to exclude experts under Daubert.
Significant Matters
Ms. Gaarder defends Ford Motor Company in products liability matters (both personal injury and property damage suits) brought in the state of Maryland and in the District of Columbia. She also works with a team of lawyers coordinating the defense of Abbott Laboratories in OxyContin® related litigation. She has assisted in the representation of Verizon in cell phone litigation. In addition, she has represented clients in business dispute litigation in venues throughout Maryland, including in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, and the Circuit Court for Worcester County.
