Christopher R. Mellott
Christopher Mellott represents clients in litigation ranging from contract disputes, commercial transactions, defamation, utilities law, antitrust, consumer fraud, construction, and product liability trials.
Mr. Mellott was successful in having a $60 million judgment on a State consumer fraud claim against a Venable client overturned. He also successfully obtained enforcement of a multi million dollar commercial loan through summary judgment without need of discovery. Mr. Mellott obtained a reversal of an industry-wide regulation of electric utilities and affiliates in an argument before the Maryland Court of Appeals. He advises corporations and trade associations on antitrust matters, including distribution, wholesale, and retail pricing restrictions. And, in a challenge to an Internet subscription contract, he successfully defended the terms of that online contract.
