David W. Rutstein
Of Counsel

David Rutstein focuses on counseling the firm’s clients on strategic and business issues and litigation. He has particular experience in dispute resolution and crisis management.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Rutstein was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Giant Food Inc. for more than 22 years. Mr. Rutstein continues to work with Giant through Venable, which has represented the grocery retailer for more than 30 years.

Prior to his service with Giant, Mr. Rutstein was a partner with the Washington law firm of Danzansky, Dickey, Tydings, Quint and Gordon and was a Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania.

Activities

Throughout his career, Mr. Rutstein has been extraordinarily active in the Washington community. He is a past chairman of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. Mr. Rutstein also served as chairman of the Eugene and Agnes Meyer Foundation for four terms and was president of the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. He has also been a trustee of the Federal City Council, a member of the Potomac Conference, Chairman of the Washington Metropolitan Corporate Counsel Association and a member of the Board of Overseers of the School of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania.
