Fabian M. Koenigbauer
Associate

Fabian Koenigbauer practices all aspects of patent law, domestically and internationally.  He helps clients protect, patent and commercialize inventions, predominantly in the life sciences.  He also helps clients assert their intellectual property rights and defend against infringement allegations.

For his clients, he manages global patent portfolios, prepares, files and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications.  He also prepares validity, infringement, freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions.  Mr. Koenigbauer participates in intellectual property transactions, such as due diligences, and in strategic intellectual property counseling including portfolio development, licensing and litigation.  In addition to conducting legal and technical research, he also assists with patent litigations.

Mr. Koenigbauer advises clients ranging from small companies to Fortune 500 companies to universities and start-ups in a variety of technologies, such as vaccines, biologics, stem cell technology, chemical mechanical polishing, molecular biology/biotechnology (genomics, proteomics and synthetic devices), medical devices (catheters), microsensors, chemicals and compounds.

Represented organ and tissue transplant provider in patent infringement suit involving bone graft cleaning and bone demineralizing technologies that resulted in a $23 million jury verdict in client’s favor.
