California Lawyer magazine has named Venable partner Jan Handzlik one of the recipients for its 16th annual California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Award. Handzlik joins 55 other attorneys from across the state representing 20 areas of legal practice. Handzlik was honored for his work in the field of criminal defense. Recipients of the CLAY Awards will be featured in the March 2012 issue of California Lawyer magazine.

Handzlik was honored for his recent work on behalf of Lindsey Manufacturing in the first trial and conviction of a corporation in a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act case. Last year, a federal judge overturned the conviction citing prosecutorial misconduct and dismissed the Lindsey indictment with prejudice.

The CLAY Awards will be presented to the recipients by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court at a ceremony in San Francisco on March 20th.
