Margaret Lynch Selwood
Associate

Maggie Lynch Selwood is an associate in Venable's Real Estate Practice Group.  Ms. Selwood’s practice includes commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, finance, REO disposition and loss mitigation, special asset management programs, development and commercial leasing.  Ms. Selwood assists clients in resolving title and survey issues, providing guidance regarding Uniform Commercial Code Article 9 filings, and in drafting and negotiating conveyance and loan documents for a variety of transactions.

Representative Clients

Ms. Selwood has represented:

• A national corporation in its Multifamily REO disposition, loss mitigation and special asset management programs.

• A major national telecommunications provider in all aspects of negotiation and drafting of leases, licenses and other real estate contracts for telecommunications sites in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. 

• Special servicers in connection with the review of collateral securing commercial loans.

• Various developers in connection with the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate.

Significant Matters

Ms. Selwood worked with a team of Venable lawyers on the sale of 100 hotels with a total purchase price in excess of $1.7 billion.

Activities

Ms. Selwood is a member of the 2012 Leadership Fairfax Emerging Leaders Institute and has participated in Marriott’s Street Law Program.

Ms. Selwood assisted with acquisition and development work for local non-profits dedicated to providing low-income housing.

Ms. Selwood has served as an associate attorney mentor, and is a member of Venable’s Diversity Committee and Sustainability Committee.
