Liebowitz Rebecca

Rebecca Liebowitz helps clients of all sizes establish and protect their brands around the world. As a co-chair of Venable's Trademark Prosecution and Brand Management Group, Rebecca works with local counsel across the globe to protect worldwide intellectual property (IP) interests. She provides honest and useful advice, so clients thoroughly understand all of their brand enforcement and management options. Rebecca takes an analytical approach to portfolio management, weighing legal, business, and reputational risks when guiding clients through difficult decisions. These attributes make Rebecca the attorney that other legal professionals turn to when seeking practical guidance and smart solutions for their clients.

Over the course of her extensive career, Rebecca has handled both traditional trademarks (trademarks, service marks, logos, and slogans) and nontraditional trademarks (trade dress and sound marks) across wide-ranging industries. She also provides copyright protection and enforcement and helps with brand rollouts, preparing brand availability opinions and license agreements. She routinely prepares and prosecutes applications and represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Additionally, Rebecca manages online brand protection programs (including registering and policing domain names), working with Customs and Border Protection to prevent infringing goods from entering the country, conducting intellectual property due diligence audits, and working alongside IP litigators at all stages of disputes. She also regularly handles Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings.

As a respected thought leader, she regularly develops and provides training to in-house legal and brand development teams on creating and protecting brand assets.
