Sarah P. Smith
Partner

Sarah Smith is a partner in the firm's real estate group, where she is involved in various types of complex real estate transactions, including purchase and sale, public-private development, office, retail and government leasing and land use matters. Ms. Smith also has experience in real estate finance transactions involving acquisition and construction loans, permanent loans and securitization of real estate assets, including multifamily housing loans.

Significant Matters

Ms. Smith's recent significant matters include representation of OTO Development in the acquisition of a future hotel site in Manhattan and representation of LCOR and USAA Real Estate Co. in a joint venture build-to-suit office lease for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission adjacent to the White Flint Metro station in North Bethesda.  She has also represented various corporate users in connection with headquarters leases, including Blackboard, Inc., Robbins-Gioia and Software AG. In addition, Ms. Smith serves as real estate counsel to the World Bank, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Intelsat and the Canadian Embassy.

Activities

Ms. Smith has served as pro-bono counsel to Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place, Higher Achievement Program and Council for Court Excellence.

Ms. Smith served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Julie E. Carnes, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia in 1998.
