Mr. Millspaugh, Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group, has a broad range of experience and provides a variety of services to clients in the real estate field.  He is well-versed in joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions, development projects, leasing transactions and financings (including workouts and restructurings).  He is also very familiar with many of the major property types:  office and industrial projects, retail centers, residential (including multi-family) projects, senior living facilities, and hotel/resort properties.  His clients include investment management firms, public pension funds, private equity investors and other institutional players in real estate, as well as families and individuals with significant real estate holdings.  The breadth and depth of Mr. Millspaugh's practice enables him to add value to his clients' businesses and to achieve creative solutions to their most important problems.

Significant Matters

Mr. Millspaugh’s practice extends from regional and national to international arenas.  He has handled acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and finance transactions in over 30 different states for state pension funds and their investment advisors.  He performs similar work in the mid-Atlantic region for investment management firms, and recently he has assisted with the development of 100,000+ square foot headquarters facilities in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD for several different public companies in the financial and technology sectors.  Mr. Millspaugh also manages real estate work globally for one of the world's largest asset management firms.  In the area of finance, Mr. Millspaugh has handled real estate financings totaling over $2 million in addition to workouts and restructurings for an investment fund holding 12 troubled real estate projects across the U.S.

Activities

Mr. Millspaugh is an active member of the Pension Real Estate Association, the Urban Land Institute and the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association.  Mr. Millspaugh serves on the Advisory Board of the Chicago Title Insurance Company.  He was also a member of the Maryland State Bar Committee on Opinions in Commercial Transactions (2007).
