Venable advertising and marketing partner Thomas Cohn was featured on NPR's "Marketplace" regarding the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) guidelines for endorsements and testimonials in advertising. The guidelines, released by the FTC on Monday, require bloggers to disclose when they're being paid by a company they're covering.

According to Cohn, the FTC sees bloggers as endorsers and the new guidelines call for them to be transparent about their relationships with the companies they cover.

"..if the blogger is being paid or is being given a free item, that's sort of a direct relationship between the advertiser and the endorser," said Cohn.

Cohn was also mentioned in a story on IT Business Edge about the new blogger rules.
