Lisa Jose Fales spoke on "Antitrust Issues for Associations" at the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Association Law Online Conference on June 18.
Attendees learned about the extremely important area of antitrust laws and their impact upon associations. This course addressed what antitrust laws prohibit, how they uniquely affect associations, and how they are enforced; the relevance of antitrust laws to membership application and expulsion, services to nonmembers, statistical reporting, standard setting and certification programs, lobbying, discussions at meetings and compliance programs; how antitrust laws apply to internet activities of associations; and how to develop and conduct a successful antitrust compliance program.
