Angel Garganta elected to membership in the American Law Institute

2 min

The American Law Institute (ALI) has elected Angel A. Garganta, a partner in Venable’s Commercial Litigation Practice and co-chair of the Class Action Defense Group in the San Francisco office, as a member.

Membership in this organization is viewed as a professional honor because of the competitive review conducted by the Institute—the number of members (excluding life, honorary, and ex officio) is limited to 3,000. By bringing together eminent judges, highly accomplished practicing lawyers, and top scholars, ALI has earned a uniquely trusted reputation for work that is of the highest quality and integrity.

Mr. Garganta has been practicing for many years, representing his clients in a broad range of cases including commercial litigation, class action defense, brand and content protection, and advertising and marketing litigation. He is a nationally recognized authority on food, beverage, and supplement litigation, and consumer protections laws, and speaks frequently on these areas of the law.

The ALI is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. The Institute—made up of judges, lawyers, and law professors of the highest qualifications—drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, model statutes, and principles of law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education. ALI has long been influential internationally, and, in recent years, more of its work has become international in scope.
