In an article on August 7, 2012 Association Bisnow highlighted a Venable Nonprofit Group seminar hosted by partners Jeff Tenenbaum and Melissa Steinman, and associate Kristalyn Loson, on legal issues in connection with nonprofit fundraising.
Steinman discussed FTC rules on "dot com disclosures," and advised nonprofits to remain cognizant of the FTC's actions with regard to data collection websites. Loson recommended that nonprofits tread cautiously when employing online fundraising, while Steinman addressed the legal risks of text message donations, and issues around nonprofits holding "user-generated contests."
