Navigating Philanthropy's Legal Issues

Exemplary and accountable foundations and corporate giving programs depend on staff and trustees who are knowledgeable and up-to-date on the legal requirements governing their operations. At this skill building program, noted attorney Bob Waldman will present on key legal issues such as charitable purpose, self-dealing, beneficiaries, due diligence and the legal trends he's observing in corporate and private grantmaking. This program is ideal for staff and trustees new to grantmaking and for those with more experience as laws and regulations continue to change.

Bob Waldman is a tax partner, chairs Venable LLP's Business Division which leads Venable's national representation of tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Waldman has represented nonprofit organizations for over 20 years (including general representation of numerous foundations, hospitals, educational institutions, trade associations and other charitable entities). Mr. Waldman also practices extensively in the areas of philanthropic and estate planning, employee benefits and taxation. Mr. Waldman is included in "Best Lawyers in America" in the fields of Employee Benefits Law, Non-Profit/Charities Law and Tax Law. He serves as Vice President of ABAG's Board of Directors.
