In a "Volunteer Spotlight" article on October 17, 2013, DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) praised Venable for the firm’s committed pro bono work on behalf of the organization since 2008. DCCK is a nonprofit that aims to reduce poverty through job training, healthy food distribution, and local farm partnerships. The organization praised Venable for helping them write new bylaws, negotiate a lease and develop a legal framework for growing their national arm.

“Venable’s pro bono services have made all the difference,” said Laura Toscano, Director of The Campus Kitchens Project. DCCK CEO Michael F. Curtin, Jr. said “Our long-standing partnership with Venable offers a beautiful example of how businesses can be more strategically and productively involved with nonprofits when they make their business their philanthropy.”

Venable partner George Constantine, who is lead legal counsel to DCCK, said “Venable is committed to contributing to the communities where we live and work. The work the firm does with DC Central Kitchen and The Campus Kitchens Project exemplifies that commitment.” He concluded, saying “Advising an organization like the Kitchen—which brings positive change to our city everyday—is without a doubt among the most rewarding and professionally satisfying responsibilities I have.”
