Attorneys from business, government and litigation practices elected to partnership
Washington, DC (December 12, 2013) – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that five of the firm’s attorneys have been elected to the partnership: Matthew D. Field, Kishka F. McClain, Amy J. McMaster, Jennifer L. Nassiri and Ari N. Rothman. The five new partners from Venable’s Washington, DC; Los Angeles, CA and Tysons Corner, VA offices represent a broad cross section of the firm’s practice groups including Regulatory, Labor and Employment, Environmental, Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights, and Commercial Litigation.

Below is background on Venable’s new partners:
Matthew D. Field is a member of the Regulatory Group in Washington, DC. He assists clients with regulatory matters in a broad range of industries, focusing primarily on energy, postal and privacy issues. Mr. Field has represented clients before federal agencies including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the Postal Regulatory Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of State. He has also litigated administrative law issues before federal district and appellate courts.
Kishka F. McClain of the Tysons Corner and Washington, DC offices is a litigator and negotiator focusing her practice on employment litigation, and advising clients regarding their healthcare and prescription drug costs. Ms. McClain’s clients include universities, hospitals and government contractors. She represents and counsels clients in all aspects of employment law and has successfully represented management in the defense of age, race, gender, religion and disability discrimination cases in state and federal courts and administrative charges before the EEOC and local agencies. As a team leader for Venable’s healthcare cost reduction program, Ms. McClain prepares and negotiates contracts related to health insurance, welfare benefits and prescription drug benefits, and develops health and prescription drug benefit cost reduction solutions for clients.
Amy J. McMaster in the Washington, DC office has substantial experience advising clients in a broad range of industries, with an emphasis on mining, transportation and transmissions, on the regulatory requirements of federal and state environmental law, including the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Ms. McMaster has assisted clients in obtaining environmental permits from federal agencies including the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the United States Forest Service, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation, as well as numerous state environmental agencies. She also represents corporations and individuals under investigation for environmental and other white collar offenses. Ms. McMaster frequently serves as a guardian ad litem in cases pending before the DC Superior Court.
Jennifer L. Nassiri of the Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group in Los Angeles focuses her practice on the representation of debtors-in-possession, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, liquidating trustees, landlords and equity interest holders in various stages of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Her experience with all types of restructuring matters includes every facet of Chapter 11, such as plan and disclosure statement matters, relief from stay, 363 sales, assumption and rejection of executory contracts, adversary proceedings and claim prosecution. Her experience also includes out-of-court restructuring matters, including assignments for the benefit of creditors and liquidations.
Ari Rothman’s nationwide practice focuses on all legal facets of Internet and mobile marketing, telemarketing, and direct response marketing. Mr. Rothman has extensive experience defending class actions brought under consumer fraud statutes and the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and defends lawsuits involving state anti-spam statutes such as California Business & Professions Code Section 17529.5, laws regulating unfair competition, and trade secret, trademark, copyright infringement, and business disputes. He also represents defendants in cases brought by the Federal Trade Commission, and merchants in disputes with payment processors and acquiring banks concerning withheld reserves, fines imposed by credit card associations, MATCH and Terminated Merchant File listings, and payment processing agreements.
