As the number of legal challenges facing independent schools expands every school year it has become increasingly important that the business manager stays stay current on the legal issues he/she may confront. During this session Caryn Pass will discuss the hot legal issues facing independent school around the country. Caryn will provide practical proactive steps schools can implement to reduce liability. Included in this session will be changes to the wage and hour laws, help in understanding the diversity of family structures and how to serve them, responding to the increase in student discipline and understanding the business officer’s fiduciary duty. Caryn encourages participants to bring questions and concerns that keep them up at night.
