Venable partner and former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Jim Burnley offered advice to Transportation Secretary nominee Anthony Foxx in an April 29, 2013 Politico Pro article. Burnley was speaking on a panel at the National Press Club with five former Transportation Secretaries.
According to Burnley, “The problem he has is there's not a lot of time in the learning curve.” Burnley added that Foxx needs to establish his leadership early on which will be difficult since Foxx, the current mayor of Charlotte, NC, has only served in local politics.
