Kevin Shepherd represents ABA at international conference

Kevin Shepherd, chair of the ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and the Profession, represented the American Bar Association at an international conference in Brussels on March 25 convened by the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (“FATF”). FATF met with representatives of bar associations and law societies from around the world to discuss, among other things, revisions to the 2008 Risk Based Approach for Legal Professionals adopted by FATF in 2008. Kevin represented the ABA in the 2008 negotiations and will be the lead negotiator for the ABA in the 2014-15 revision process. The ABA will work closely with the International Bar Association, Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe, the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and the Law Society of England and Wales in this global effort.
