Although Section 501(c)(3) organizations are prohibited from engaging in campaign intervention, they still have an important role to play in the process. Understanding the rules so you know how to be involved is essential. Learn the important points of how to:

  • Host candidate forums and debates
  • Host candidate appearances
  • Publish voter guides
  • Publish candidate questionnaires
  • Engage in issue advocacy
  • Establish and operate a related 501(c)(4) organization

This session will run through the dos and don’ts of these six activities, so that you can better understand how your organization can be a part of the political process.

Ron Jacobs and Larry Norton, the co-chairs of Venable’s Political Law Practice Group, will provide practical, hands-on advice.

Speakers:
Ronald M. Jacobs, Esq., Co-Chair of Venable's Political Law Practice Group
Lawrence H. Norton, Esq., Co-Chair of Venable's Political Law Practice Group
