Brings more than 15 years of in-house and private practice experience representing nonprofit organizations

Washington, DC (November 7, 2016) – Adding to its nationally recognized nonprofit organizations practice, Venable LLP announced today that Beth A. Caseman has rejoined the firm as Counsel in the Washington, DC, office. Ms. Caseman was an associate with the firm from 2006 to 2008. She most recently served as Senior Vice President and Acting General Counsel for Volunteers of America, Inc., one of the country’s largest charities.

Ms. Caseman brings more than 15 years of experience representing nonprofit organizations, both in-house and in private practice. She has significant experience in the establishment and operation of tax-exempt organizations, corporate governance, contracts, fundraising, and many other nonprofit legal issues. Prior to joining Venable, Ms. Caseman worked two stints with Volunteers of America, Inc., one of the country's largest charities. Beginning her career there as legal counsel, she was most recently the charity's Senior Vice President and Acting General Counsel.

"Beth's deep, sophisticated understanding of the complex and diverse legal issues facing nonprofits, coupled with years of practical, in-house experience, will prove to be a tremendous asset to us and our nonprofit clients," said Jeffrey S. Tenenbaum, Chair of Venable's nonprofit organizations practice. "Beth also is a pleasure to work with, and we very much look forward to having her be a part of our team again."

"Venable is like a second home to me, and I’m thrilled to rejoin my old friends and colleagues in a practice widely recognized as the finest in its class," said Ms. Caseman. "Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to see this group in action as part of the team and from an in-house perspective. From both vantages, they are simply among the best at partnering with their clients and staying ahead of the curve on the legal issues impacting nonprofit organizations."

In her second stint with Venable, Ms. Caseman returns to one of the premier nonprofit practices in the country, which represents more than 700 nonprofit clients nationwide and has long been one of the top-ranked nonprofit practices. Both Legal 500 and U.S. News-Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms," among numerous other awards and honors, have consistently named it a national Tier 1 practice. The group has the largest concentration of attorneys in the country providing counseling to and advocacy for charities, trade and professional associations, foundations, think tanks, schools, hospitals, arts and cultural institutions, and other nonprofit organizations.

Ms. Caseman received her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2001, and her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1992.
