WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 2, 2004) – Christopher Sega, a member of the Taxation, and Trust and Estates Groups at Venable LLP has been honored with admission as a Fellow into the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. The College is a professional association of only 2,700 trust and estate attorneys nationwide. Founded in 1949, ACTEC is the country’s leading association of attorneys focused on trusts and estates. The organization also works to improve probate, trust and tax laws and procedures.

Mr. Sega, who has just been cited as a Top Lawyer by Washingtonian magazine, is one of four Venable attorneys that have been named Fellows to ACTEC. He joins Alexander Lewis, Jeffrey Radowich and John Edgar. Fellows can only join through nomination by an existing ACTEC member who is not from the nominee’s law firm.

“I am honored by acceptance into the College. ACTEC Fellowship represents a valuable endorsement from your peers nationwide,” Mr. Sega commented. “The Collegeis a true community ofthe nation's leading wealth management attorneys. I expect that both my clients and I will benefit from the College'sprofessional support and development.”

Mr. Sega’s practice primarily focuses on counseling closely held companies and individuals with significant assets on estate, gift and retirement planning issues. He frequently works with entrepreneurs and business owners to develop wealth management, tax and personal estate strategies. Mr. Sega brings an extra dimension of business knowledge to his practice having previously worked for twelve years as an international banker in project finance and merchant banking. This combination of experience provides Mr. Sega with a deeper understanding of his clients’ goals and needs.

In addition to his client-based work, Mr. Sega has also taught International Taxation at Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. He currently teaches Estate and Gift Taxation as an adjunct faculty member at the Georgetown University Law Center.

“Chris Sega’s addition to Venable’s roster of Fellows in ACTEC is a testament to his considerable talents. It is satisfying that as we continue to build a national wealth management practice that so many of our partners in this area have been recognized by ACTEC as among the best in their profession,” said Jeffrey Gonya, Chair of Venable’s estate planning practice.

Mr. Sega is Vice-Chair of the Committee on Fiduciary Income Tax and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Grantor Trusts of the Committee on Estate and Gift Tax of the American Bar Association.
