Washington, D.C.-- (November 16, 1998) - In March 1994, Venable pioneered the legal profession's leap into cyberspace as the first law firm in the country to develop its own site on the world wide web. Since then, the scope of the Internet has expanded exponentially, profoundly affecting the way many companies conduct business. In step with these changes, Venable is launching a new website to inform and engage visitors throughout cyberspace.

"More and more of our clients rely on technology to help solve their problems and maintain a highly competitive edge. Venable's focus on evolving areas of technology and law keeps us ahead of the curve," said James L. Shea, Venable's managing partner. "And we want a website that does just that."

Venable's new website features an interactive law quiz; New Tools/New Rules, a special section focusing on technology with information on such subjects as Y2K, e-commerce, intellectual property, and government contracts; a powerful new search engine and enhanced navigation; and On The Record, a press room for media interests.

Venable has long held a reputation for being among the leading players in the technology arena, a position enhanced by the cybersavvy of Venable attorneys. Whether it involves providing support for the sale of an Internet company, contributing to the e-commerce debate, or meeting the challenges of Y2K issues, Venable's expanding Technology Division is meeting client needs in the new information economy. The firm's technology practice serves market leaders in several critical industries, such as health care, computers, defense contracting, and consumer products and services.

One of the American Lawyer’s top 100 law firms, Venable LLP has attorneys practicing in all areas of corporate and business law, complex litigation, intellectual property and government affairs. Venable serves corporate, institutional, governmental, nonprofit and individual clients throughout the U.S. and around the world from its headquarters in Washington, D.C. and offices in California, Maryland, New York and Virginia.
