Venable partner Patsy McGowan was quoted in a June 8, 2016 Law360 article on recently released IRS regulations imposing taxes on property transfers into real estate investment trusts (REITs). The regulations close a loophole in the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015 and should slow or halt such transactions.
"This really closes off some loopholes for C corps spinning off REITs," said McGowan.
