Risk Assessment, Insurance Procurement and Policy Evaluation

We help our clients avoid problems before they occur. We assess risk and, where possible, avoid or mitigate it, before a loss, claim, or other dispute arises. We evaluate and quantify client needs and recommend tailored and thoughtful advice for avoidance, mitigation, and/or transfer of risk. Insurance products are frequently one of the solutions we recommend, including atypical insurance, such as captive insurance or self-insurance. We often suggest revising business documents, changing business practices, or implementing non-insurance risk avoidance and transfer strategies.

We excel in getting clients the insurance they need. We work with many of the leading national and global insurers and underwriters to customize specialty insurance products and "towers" of coverage. We provide advice, guidance, and negotiating expertise before the insurance purchase to make sure that the appropriate type and level of coverage is obtained.

Our experience includes addressing such complex risks as redevelopment of the World Trade Center, anthrax detection devices used in government facilities, urban mass transit, liquefied natural gas offloading and storage facilities, Superfund (CERCLA) and brownfield sites, and large-scale construction and development/redevelopment projects.

Insurance policies consist of multiple parts and sub-parts, including coverage grants, exclusions, identities of insured, conditions of coverage, counter-party risks, reporting obligations, and "other insurance" provisions and items. We regularly conduct policy reviews to identify and bridge gaps in existing policies.
