Peers and clients identified Venable attorneys for their "exceptional skills" and "profound insights" into patent matters

Six Venable attorneys were named to Intellectual Asset Management’s second annual Patent 1000 list in the Washington, DC and New York City areas. The attorneys include partners Nora Garrote, Frank Gasparo, Michael Gollin, Jim Nelson, Bill Russell, and Michael Sartori.

IAM described Venable’s DC office as “responsive and consistent” and as possessing a “forte” in strategic deal work pertaining to outsourcing, patent licensing and IP and technology transactions fields. Highlighting individual attorneys, IAM said Garrote’s “sweet spot” is in information technology, and that she also has a “rock-solid foundation in IP law and is adept on patent licensing and content work.” They noted that Russell “boosted” the DC office when he transferred there from New York. Sartori was described as having a “wealth of domestic and international experience” and a “sophisticated understanding of the panoply of options available to clients in the post-issuance space.” Gollin was recommended for his significant experience in portfolio development, licensing, litigation and opinions.

In the New York office, IAM praised Gasparo as a “dynamic and proactive litigator” and said Nelson is “at his best on IP-driven deals and technology and outsourcing transactions.”

The guide was compiled following a five month research process which included close to 1,500 telephone interviews with attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading players in the field. Individuals qualify for a listing in the IAM Patent 1000 when they receive sufficient positive feedback from peers and clients with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate. Only individuals identified by market sources for their exceptional skill sets and profound insights into patent matters are featured in the guide.
