New York (January 27, 2013) – Venable LLP announced that experienced litigators Patrick J. Boyle and Jessie F. Beeber, who have known each other since working together in the 1990’s at the firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP, joined the firm as partners in the firm's New York office.

The pair arrives from Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, P.C. where they were both partners.

Mr. Boyle and Ms. Beeber regularly handle complex corporate liability cases.  They have served as counsel for financial services companies in litigation arising out of the repurchasing of mortgage-backed securities and in insurance coverage disputes.

The two attorneys represent numerous high-profile clients, including government entities and companies operating in financial services, insurance, transportation, maritime, construction, environmental, and manufacturing sectors.  That includes representing insurance industry defendants and, from time to time, plaintiffs in prominent tort liability actions.   They have also defended clients on significant false advertising, trademark and copyright matters, where Frankfurt Kurnit is an industry leader.

Mr. Boyle has served as lead counsel on over 20 trials.  He spent nearly 12 years handling insurance coverage and mortgage-related litigations at the firm Thacher Proffitt, during its period as one of the country’s leading firms in advising issuers and underwriters on commercial and residential mortgage-backed securitizations.  Admitted in New Jersey as well as New York, he often appears in courts in both states.

Ms. Beeber brings additional experience in intellectual property litigation.  She’s represented well-known clients in multiple trademark, copyright, false advertising and right of publicity cases with a high rate of success and visibility.

“Patrick and Jessie are experienced trial attorneys who have worked on many high-stakes matters nationally,” said Edmund O'Toole, managing partner of Venable's New York office. “They have exactly the skill set and track record that our litigation clients prize. They understand the challenges that companies face when they go to court in sensitive cases. They are a welcome addition to our New York litigation group.”

Mr. Boyle commented:  “Venable is widely recognized for its outstanding national commercial litigation platform, with the depth and experience to handle the most challenging cases.  The firm is also known for particular strengths that complement our practice – including its intellectual property, transportation, product liability and market-leading advertising groups.  It is, quite simply, the perfect fit for our practice and our client base.”

Ms. Beeber is a former law school classmate of Venable advertising partner Amy Mudge.  Ms. Mudge and Ms. Beeber have also have worked together on the private advertising litigation committee of the American Bar Association.  “One of our attractions to Venable, in addition to its stellar national reputation and deep trial bench, is the firm’s drive to continue growing its New York office,” Ms. Beeber said.  “Patrick and I see a terrific opportunity to build further visibility in litigation matters – including those tied to advertising, financial services, transportation, publishing, media, insurance and other areas key to the New York market.”

Mr. Boyle received his J.D. From St. John's University School of Law and his B.A. from Adelphi University.  Ms. Beeber earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School and her B.A. from Cornell University.
