Venable Promotes Five to Partner

Washington, D.C., January 2, 2002 -- Venable is pleased to announce the addition of five attorneys to its partnership ranks: Marcia A. Auberger, Gregory S. Braker, Michael W. Conron, Michael S. Kosmas, and Lisa Bittle Tancredi.

Marcia Auberger focuses primarily on domestic and international trademark prosecution including analysis of trademark searches, clearance of marks, preparation of trademark applications, responding to Trademark Office correspondence, maintenance of domestic and international trademark portfolios, and represents client before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She also counsels clients in the field of copyright law, trademark and copyright litigation. Ms. Auberger received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law and her B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Gregg Braker focuses on environmental regulatory and civil matters, particularly those affecting the trade/distribution, real estate development, and construction industries. He is well-versed in clean water compliance, hazardous waste compliance, clean air compliance, and site assessment/remediation. He is skilled in setting up effective corporate compliance programs, auditing systems, and internal investigations. Mr. Braker earned his B.A. from Evangel College, his M.A. from the University of Maryland, and his J.D. from Georgetown University.

Michael Conron is a corporate attorney whose practice focuses on securities regulation, venture capital and mergers and acquisitions. His experience includes public debt and equity offerings on the issuer and underwriter side, private investment on the issuer and venture capital side and mergers and acquisitions for both public and private companies. Mr. Conron received his B.S. degree from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Maryland.

Michael Kosmas is a corporate attorney whose practice focuses on representing the hotel industry in complex corporate and real estate transactions. In recent years he has acted as counsel to Marriott International, Inc. in a number of "sale/manage back" portfolio transactions involving eighty-six Marriott-branded hotels across North America worth over $1 billion. He also has extensive experience in real estate development, portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, real estate-secured lending and commercial leasing. Prior to joining Venable, Mr. Kosmas spent a number of years as a senior aide to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He received his B.A. from Loyola College and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Lisa Bittle Tancredi focuses her practice on bankruptcy and creditors' rights, representing large corporate debtors, creditors' committees, bankruptcy trustees and creditors. She appears regularly before the United States Bankruptcy Courts for both the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Ms. Tancredi received her bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and her J.D. from the University of Maryland.
