Baltimore – September 17, 2014 – Venable attorney Charles J. (Chuck) Morton, Jr. has been selected as a finalist in the annual Baltimore Smart CEO Power Players. Morton, who co-chairs the firm’s Corporate practice, is often ranked as one of the top M&A lawyers in the country.
According to Smart CEO, the Power Players Awards program honors the Baltimore region’s most enterprising attorneys, bankers and accountants for their leadership, accomplishment, innovation and success. Power Players represent the best and brightest in the region — the impact players that CEOs can count on to help grow their businesses. An independent committee of local business leaders evaluates the applications and chooses the Power Players based on the quality of nominations submitted.
Morton is enjoying a wave of recognition. He received special attention as one of a small group of “Leading Lawyers” for M&A: Middle Market (Sub $500m) earlier this year in the prestigious Legal 500 Directory. Leading Lawyers are selected from all the nationally recommended attorneys in a particular category and represent those few individuals, who, in the view of their peers, represent the highest standards of their practice. This is Mr. Morton’s third consecutive year as a Leading Lawyer. He was praised by Legal 500 for his “national practice advising on equity investments and M&A… on behalf of private equity groups and banks”. In addition, last month, Morton was acknowledged for the fifth year in a row as one of the top lawyers in the country by Best Lawyers®. In that publication he was also singled out as the Baltimore Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law Lawyer of the Year for 2015.
