WASHINGTON, D.C., September 9, 1999 - Benjamin Civiletti, chairman of Venable, and Stefan F. Tucker, co-founder of Tucker Flyer PC, today announced the two law firms will combine their premier business practices to provide clients with a deeper bench of services.
This decision positions the combined firm for significant gains in the region. "Given our size, we actively sought to increase our ability to enhance and sustain client growth and provide depth both inside and outside of our main practice areas. Our clients will benefit from partnering with a firm of substantial capabilities in securities, telecommunications, health care, antitrust and trade regulation, employment, government contracts, and legislative and federal regulatory practice," says Stef Tucker. "Venable is the firm of choice for any company--start-up, growth or established," continues Mr. Tucker.
"We are ecstatic over the merger," says James Shea, managing partner of Venable. According to Mr. Shea, the firms decided to combine for a variety of reasons, including client service and compatibility. "Our decision was energized by the two firms' shared vision, goals, community service commitment, and culture. The talent and reputation of Tucker Flyer, when combined with our broader network of attorneys and clients, strengthens our combined presence beyond what either firm could achieve on its own." Adds Tucker Flyer co-founder Michael Flyer, "Our firms are now greater than the sum of their parts."
Since Mr. Civiletti rejoined Venable after serving as Attorney General of the United States, its Washington, D.C. office has grown substantially. With this merger, Venable will have over 350 attorneys, making the combined firm one of the largest law firms in the fastest growing business market in the country. "Combined, Venable and Tucker Flyer are a truly exceptional firm, one that is rooted in the highest standards of professional service to our clients," continues Mr. Civiletti.
"During our initial discussions we were struck by how Venable's values mirror our own. The combined firm should appeal to many lawyers who value serving clients in a caring and profitable environment," adds Robert Gottlieb of Tucker Flyer.
