Paul Kemp and Sig Libowitz win release for wrongly convicted DC man

Venable partner Paul Kemp and associate Sig Libowitz last week won the release of Edward Bell, a Washington, DC man wrongly convicted of a 1991 murder and imprisoned since his conviction.

Kemp and Libowitz, working with the Innocence Project, took on Bell’s case. The team was set to begin a trial next week, but the government offered a reduction of the murder to manslaughter and imposition of time served.

Venable partner Seth Rosenthal, who was successful in a similar pro bono case last year, advised Kemp and Libowitz.
