Venable obtains dismissal of SLAPP suit

1 min

Venable recently obtained a voluntary dismissal with prejudice of a SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) suit. Venable represented Examiner.com political blogger Adam Meister who was sued by Baltimore City Councilwoman Belinda Conaway. Councilwoman Conaway dismissed the case concluding that she could not continue the suit in good faith.

Venable attorneys who worked on the case included partner Chris Mellott and associates Alex Hortis and Ned Parent, all of the Baltimore Office. The Reporter's Committee for Freedom of the Press filed an amicus brief in support of Venable's motion to dismiss.

The dismissal was covered by the Baltimore Sun and the Associated Press in the Daily Record and on WTOP.
