Venable partner Damon Wright
was quoted in a March 27, 2012 article in Law360
on the recent decision by the Justice Department to ask a federal judge to drop a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) case against three military equipment industry executives. The three individuals were accused of bribing Gabonese officials in order to win contacts providing armor, weapons, and military gear.
Commenting on the Justice Department’s request, Wright, who represents Daniel Alvirez, one of the defendants, said, “This was a fair and thoughtful decision… Mr. Alvirez feels a tremendous sense of relief with this decision and in knowing he can be with and support his loved ones. This was wonderful news for Mr. Alvirez and his family.”
