In an April 29, 2014 article, Politico Pro
quoted Venable partner David Strickland
on the return of Google’s self-driving cars to Washington, DC streets. The cars returned after a two-year absence for more testing in DC traffic. After much testing at their Northern California facility, Google says the cars can now notice sudden stop signs, swerve around most construction cones, and detect cyclist motioning to turn.
Speaking at the CES International show in Las Vegas earlier this year on the topic of self-driving cars in general, Strickland said, “We only have one chance to get this right,” referring to regulator concerns about liability.
