Venable partner Jamie Barnett was quoted in an April 23, 2015 Law360 article on two bills passed by the House of Representatives meant to address cybersecurity information-sharing. Both bills passed with bipartisan support after beefing up privacy protection and addressing the scope of liability more clearly. The bills are now awaiting a vote in the Senate.
"This week's break in the deadlock over the cyber information-sharing bill in the House, and the promise of action in the Senate, is a huge step forward," said Barnett. "This bill is three years overdue and is probably stronger than previous versions in that it has more privacy protections, even though it still raises concerns among privacy advocates."
