Venable partner Jamie Barnett was quoted in a December 15, 2016, Law360 article on the legacy of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler who announced he would step down from his position in January. Wheeler's three-year tenure as chair was largely marked by numerous changes in the agency and the telecommunications industry, but despite some controversial positions, he is likely to be remembered as an effective chair.
Barnett said Wheeler was a visionary in his role, but like "any visionary who has the practicality to get things done, a controversial one." He added, "He came in with a vision and he definitely pursued it and has done some real good."
