On February 2, 2017, the National Law Journal featured an article on Venable partner Allyson Baker’s arguments on behalf of a for-profit college accreditation group to a federal appeals court panel. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is seeking the names of all colleges the group has accredited since 2010. During questioning by the panel, Baker said there is an “argument to be made” that a for-profit college making loans could be subject to the CFPB, but the group is not involved in offering consumer credit.

In addition to Baker, Kimberly Culp and Andrew Hernacki represent the accrediting group.
