Venable Obtains Special Immigration Juvenile Status Predicate Orders on Behalf of Honduran Immigrant

1 min

On behalf of pro bono client Catholic Charities, Neda Saghafi, an associate in Venable’s Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice, obtained predicate orders that allow a Honduran girl to petition U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for special immigration juvenile status.

According to Catholic Charities, the girl and her mother came to the United States in 2014 after the girl’s father abandoned the family. Ms. Saghafi petitioned the Baltimore County Circuit Court for the mother to have sole custody and requested that the Court issue findings of fact that the girl had been neglected by her father in Honduras. Ms. Saghafi persuaded the court that it was not in the girl’s best interest to return to Honduras and the court issued predicate orders.
