Venable partner Amy Mudge was quoted in a June 17, 2013 Adweek article on Jessica Rich’s appointment as director of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) consumer protection bureau. Rich is a 20-year career attorney with the FTC focusing on privacy, data and identity protection, and new technologies. She recently served as a deputy director under David Vladeck at the bureau.

Advertisers do not expect much difference between Rich and Vladeck who pursued a several high-profile deceptive advertising cases. “I wouldn't be surprised if she maintained some of the Vladeck spirit,” Mudge said. “I don't expect we'll see a significant change in priorities.”
