On June 2, 2015, the Associated Press interviewed Venable partner Ed Wilson on the resignation of FIFA president Sepp Blatter. The move comes days after Blatter was reelected to a fifth term. Last week, Swiss authorities arrested several top FIFA officials on charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy. The indictment also alleges widespread corruption involving World Cup bids and marketing and broadcast deals.

According to Wilson, the Justice Department's statements that the investigation is ongoing "telegraphs that there are other people in their focus." He added that investigators have made it clear they view FIFA as rife with organizational corruption meaning "people both up, down and sideways" from those already indicted.
