The 2014 edition of Chambers Global featured rankings for six Venable attorneys and two practice groups. Ron Glancz was ranked in Banking and Finance: Mainly Regulatory, Jim Hanks, Sharon Kroupa, and Patsy McGowan were ranked in Capital Markets: REITs: Maryland Counsel, and Stu Ingis and Milo Cividanes were ranked in Privacy and Data Security. Hanks and Ingis earned Band 1 honors in both of their categories. Additionally, the firm was also ranked for Capital Markets: REITs: Maryland Counsel in Band 1 and Privacy and Data Security.

In its editorial write up, Chambers Global sources described Glancz as “very client-oriented” and “easy to work with.” The editorial also praised Glancz’s “command and understanding of Dodd-Frank and what it means for clients” as a strength of his practice.

Hanks is recognized as “the guru of Maryland law” who “has an encyclopedic comprehension of case law,” and is “very good in the boardroom.” Sources praise Kroupa as someone who is “extremely practical, understands the issues and is highly creative.” McGowan is credited for being “highly accessible and client service-oriented” and “highly practical in the way she applies her legal analysis to a transactional setting.” According to one attorney who spoke with Chambers Global about McGowan, “It is always good to get her in on a transaction early.”

Sources said Ingis “unparalleled domain knowledge, great business judgment and an extensive network of contacts in the public and private sectors.” Clients praised Cividanes as someone who is “passionate about supporting us and what we do, proficient in making cases and knowledgeable about how the process works.”
