Venable partner Claudia Lewis-Eng was quoted in a May 13, 2011 Law360 article about regulations on kids' food marketing that have been proposed by a working group of four federal regulatory agencies.

Lewis-Eng said that the proposed guidelines are "a wonderful idea and absolutely necessary." However, she indicated concern that the guidelines could lead to increased consumer claims if and when companies can't meet them, possibly leading to litigation.

She explained, "These guidelines are not the law, but the presumption would be that there is scientific evidence and meaningful research behind these guidelines, so it could look bad to judges or juries if companies are not adhering to them."
