Venable partner David Strickland was quoted in an October 21, 2016 Law360 article on proposed regulations by the California Department of Motor Vehicles governing driverless cars. The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets objected to the “overly restrictive” regulations and said they could be burdensome for manufacturers.

"As it stands, the DMV’s proposal contains some provisions that would create significant barriers to a rapid and full-scale commercial deployment of an autonomous fleet," said Strickland, who serves as counsel to the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets. "The coalition urges the department to reconsider its overly restrictive proposal."
