"Unique Estate Planning in Maryland and the Impact of the Tax Relief Act of 2010," Maryland Association of CPAs, 42nd Annual Chesapeake Tax Conference

This event has already occurred.
Martin's West
Baltimore, MD

This presentation will focus on the unique estate, gift and inheritance tax issues under Maryland law given the changes in the law made by the Tax Relief Act of 2010.  As a result of the Five Million Dollar exemption environment, the vast majority of taxpayers will be exempt from the Federal estate and gift tax system and will no longer need to plan to minimize or avoid these taxes.  Therefore, Maryland estate planners will spend more time planning to help clients minimize or avoid Maryland transfer taxes.  The presentation will focus on what Maryland estate planners should be doing now and for the rest of 2011 and 2012 to help their clients.  The presentation will provide real world examples of techniques that have worked with clients as well as discuss problems that have been seen in practice.
