Jamie Barnett will present "Defining the Federal Cyber Agenda" at the Cyber Security Finance Forum 2013 on "Bringing the Government and the Cyber Industry Together" on October 21-22, 2013.
The Department of Defense has requested more funds to support cyber-related operations in 2014 - $800 million more than in 2013 ($4.7 billion), emphasizing the importance of cyber capabilities (offensive and defensive) as part of the U.S. government’s overall defense strategy. Other agencies have also started boosting investments in cyber, despite announced budget cuts.
Questions that will be addressed:
- Which areas has the government identified as “high priority” and are budgets being allocated accordingly?
- How do private companies access the federal budget?
- Regulation and legislation: where and how can this make an impact?
- Is investing in cybersecurity really going to solve the problem – what more does the government need?
